Drink & Play

drink and play at bondi, bondi beach, sydney, nsw, australia, andy solo

Don’t tell the local Fun Police but after quite a dry spell, there are finally more than a few fine places around town for a quiet bevvy or fun night with friends. As well as Bondi staples such as the Beach Road Hotel, there’s a change happening here…

I’m not talking places to get totally stonkered and stumble home, I’m talking hip and fabulous little wine rooms and bars. I’m talking wine & cheese nights folks! It’s all part of the new small bar movement in Bondi which has this particular local very excited.

Head to the Directory for full details but here’s a few of my fave places to play…

The Bucket List, Bondi Pavilion, Queen Elizabeth Drive (aka opposite the beach)

From pop up to permanent in a blink of an eye, the instant success of this beachside bar and dining spot is spectacular. A must visit for all (and regular hang for lucky locals).

The Rum Diaries, 288 Bondi Road

Leading the new buzzing Bondi Road night scene, The Rum Diaries offers eclectic warmth, classy cocktails and a hip, happening vibe.

The Shop & Wine Bar, 78 Curlewis Street

Loved by locals, a casual little hole-in-the-wall wonder serving quality bread, dips and cheeses to accompany it’s fine wine list.

Ravesi’s Hotel, Cnr Campbell Pde & Hall St

A happening hot spot of classy cocktails, fine wine, great music, ambience and people-watching. Something for everyone smack bang in the middle of town.

Bondi Icebergs Bar, 1 Notts Avenue

It would just be plain remiss of me not to mention the superb panoramic views and beachside elegance of the Icebergs Bar, high atop the cliffs at South Bondi. Glorious.

Chapter One, Shop 3a, 34 Campbell Pde

With a top quality charcuterie and cheese platters accompanied by a stellar wine list,  for those who fancy a romantic evening or quiet catch up with friends.
