Trouble is a toddler. It’s not his real name. But it’s what everyone calls him. You can guess why.
It’s not her real name. But it’s what Trouble calls her. You can guess why.
Join Drop Bear Theatre for this fast paced comic exchange where a mother and her toddler provoke, cajole and push each other into an imaginative place beyond the safety of home.
See Olivier Award winning UK playwright Mike Kenny’s unique script debut on the Australian stage in an exploration of comfort and danger. You’ll be thrown into the polished nylon 1950s where the tug of apron strings belies the inner turmoil of a quintessential scallywag preparing to explore the world on his own.
Trouble welcomes Sydney’s most highly regarded independent children’s theatre group, Drop Bear Theatre, to Rock Surfers Theatre Company at Bondi Pavilion Theatre. The stage will explode with the comic and vocal skills of award winning cabaret artists Cienda McNamara (Brisbane) and Matthew Barker (Adelaide), and you’ll experience original live music to send Adele and Glasvegas home weeping.
Join the adventure. Every parent will chuckle knowingly and every child will be sent on a rip-roaring escapade through recognition, fear and delight.
And guess what? You might just discover that the big bad world isn’t so bad after all – at least not when you’ve got someone to hold your hand.

My toddler won’t even sit still for 2 minutes!?
Seats near the exit are reserved for restless toddlers, babies & nervous parents on their first shared theatre outing. We know our audience and want to make sure everyone is comfortable. You may be pleasantly surprised…
Can my baby come along?
This show is not specifically designed to engage babies, but like all of our shows, the music, colour and warmth is a welcoming environment for babies too. Babes in arms for free.
Will my 10+ year old be bored?
Our shows are not ‘babyish’. We know families don’t always come in neat age ranges, so all our shows are designed to have broad age appeal. We guarantee your 10+ year old will find plenty to laugh at and talk about, and so will you.
Where is Bondi Pavilion?
The Bondi Pavilion is right in the middle of the Bondi Beach Esplanade. It’s the perfect place to have a snack, play in the sand or splash in the waves after the show. There is also a playground right next to the Pavilion. The theatre is on Level 1 of the Pavilion, stairs and elevator are available for access. Toilets and a parents room are upstairs right next to the theatre.
Where do I park?
Bondi Park car park, Queen Elizabeth Drive (right behind the Bondi Pavilion). 1-2 hrs is $16 – bring change and/or credit card for meters. We recommend at least 30 minutes to find a park and make your way to the theatre, longer if you are having play/snack time first. Alternative FREE parking can be found (10min walk) on Blair Street, North Bondi.
