Meet the Locals - Meg

All up, how many years have you lived or operated in bondi?

2 weeks! But I’ve lived very close by for the last 12 years.

Your favourite local place for a tea or coffee?

Bru at north bondi for the delicious Allpress coffees and quinoa porridge.

Your favourite local place for a meal?

I think The Italian on O’Brien St (no, not north bondi italian) is the best food around here. It’s so authentic and absolutely delicious no matter what you order!

Your favourite local place for a drink?

Well apart from Chapter One, the Beach Rd Hotel is always good for a sunday arvo drink and there’s usually plenty of mates about.

Your favourite season in bondi?

I think it’s got to be summer. There are few more glorious places on a hot summer’s day than Bondi Beach, and although it can sometimes get a bit too hectic there is always a happy vibe.

Your favourite local event or festival?

I really love the Winter Magic thing. I’ve got to say a big well done to Waverley Council for putting this on every year. It’s great for small businesses like ours to have some extra traffic coming through in the colder months. I also love the community buzz that it generates- it’s nice walking along Hall St and seeing all the fairy lights on trees and shops, there’s something really nostalgic about that. And finally, the ice skating rink down on the sand- brilliant!! Where else in the world can you go ice-skating while watching the surf roll in!

Your bondi ‘happy’ place?

I actually love the South end. It’s beautiful on the hill looking over at Ben Buckler and all the old school apartment buildings with their pastel colours. I hope they never get knocked down and replaced with anything ‘modern’. Also sitting up at Mark’s park and looking over at Bondi is pretty special.

Your favourite local activity?

Whale watching during winter- awesome!

Where would you take a first-time visitor to bondi?

To the beach first. Then to either North Bondi RSL or Icebergs for a couple of drinks with a great view.

What’s your favourite thing about living or operating in bondi?

The best thing about our new business is our view. I may be a little biased but I think we have THE best angle of the beach. It really is a magical place to hang out and watch Bondi life unfold. The other thing I love is meeting all the locals. We have already had so many through here in our first 2 weeks and the feedback has been fantastic. It’s great for us to get to know them all and find out their views about the suburb and what they love about it.

What would you like improved in bondi?

I’d love to see a few less parking officers on the streets- I swear those guys don’t ever sleep! I know they have a job to do but they do it a little too well, if you know what i mean.
