Shopping in bondi beach doesn’t really kick off until about 10am but there’s still plenty to do before then. Health geeks and fitness freaks head down to the beach promenade any time from 5.00am to expand their lungs and muscley guns, whilst watching the sunrise over the horizon. Soft-sand running on the white fluffy stuff is a popluar pastime (trust me, it’s a killer) and from 6am there are more boot camps and yummy mummy classes than seagulls sleeping on the sand. Unlike the Venice Beach outdoor muscle fest, you can join mere mortals like myself doing dips, crunches and push ups at the simple outdoor gym down next to the North Bondi Surf Club or, hey, just grab a coffee from Speedo’s and head down for a simple sandy stroll.
There’s a number of cafes that regularly get cracking from dawn, including Speedo’s, Harry’s, Sejuiced, Jed’s, Organic Republic Bakery, Gusto, Skinny Dip and Le Paris-Go. The others start the gradual awakening between 7-8am with a few stragglers in the 9-10am zone (why so late La Piadina?).
Most local services open some time between 9am – 10am. See the directory for further details.

As you would imagine, bondi beach stays up late for those into local dining, sunset cocktails, live music, a spot of shopping, a cold beer, late night strolls, night markets or a midnight boogie. The energy and hours wane with the seasons – see individual listings, events and news for further details.
The Bondi Beach Standard Timezone is UTC/GMT +10 hours. We’re ahead of most other cities in the world (just time-wise…he he). Here’s the current time for Sydney and a few other major cities…
